Training and certification
1. Member States shall take the necessary measures to ensure that seafarers serving on ships as referred to in Article 1 are trained as a minimum in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention, as laid down in Annex I to this Directive, and hold certificates as defined inArticle 2, points (35) and (36), and/or documentary evidence as defined in Article 2, point (37).
2. Member States shall take the necessary measures to ensure that those crew members that must be certified in accordance with Regulation III/10.4 of SOLAS 74 are trained and certified in accordance with this Directive.
