1. The Management Board shall appoint a member of staff of Europol as Data Protection Officer, who shall be designated for that sole position. 2. The Data Protection Officer shall be selected on the basis of professional qualities and, in particular, expert knowledge of data protection law and practices and the ability to carry out the tasks referred to in Article 41b of this Regulation and in Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. 3. The selection of the Data Protection Officer shall not result in a conflict of interest between his or her duty as Data Protection Officer and any other official duties he or she may have, in particular in relation to the application of this Regulation. 4. The Data Protection Officer shall not be dismissed or penalised by the Management Board for performing his or her tasks. 5. Europol shall publish the contact details of the Data Protection Officer and communicate them to the EDPS. |
