Regulation (EU) 2024/1083 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 establishing a common framework for media services in the internal market and amending Directive 2010/13/EU (European Media Freedom Act) (Text with EEA relevance) article 1 CELEX: 32024R1083 Subject matter and scope
1. This Regulation lays down common rules for the proper functioning of the internal market for media services and establishes the European Board for Media Services, while safeguarding the independence and pluralism of media services. 2. This Regulation does not affect rules laid down by: (a) Directive 2000/31/EC; (b) Directive (EU) 2019/790 of the European Parliament and of the Council ; (c) Regulation (EU) 2019/1150; (d) Regulation (EU) 2022/2065; (e) Regulation (EU) 2022/1925; (f) Regulation (EU) 2024/900 of the European Parliament and of the Council ; (g) Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council . 3. This Regulation does not affect the possibility for Member States to adopt more detailed or stricter rules in the fields covered by Chapter II, Chapter III, Section 5, and Article 25, provided that those rules ensure a higher level of protection for media pluralism or editorial independence in accordance with this Regulation and comply with Union law. |
