1. Member States shall establish requirements for the discharge of biodegradable non-domestic wastewater that are appropriate to the nature of the industry concerned and that ensure at least the same level of environmental protection as the requirements set out in part B of Annex I. 2. The requirements referred to in paragraph 1 shall apply when the following conditions are fulfilled: (a) the wastewater originates from plants treating a load of 4 000 p.e. and above that belong to the industrial sectors listed in Annex IV and that do not carry out any of the activities listed in Annex I to Directive 2010/75/EU; and (b) the wastewater does not enter an urban wastewater treatment plant before it is discharged into receiving waters (‘direct discharge’). |
