Data sources and methods
1. Member States shall collect the data referred to in Article 1 to be provided to the Commission (Eurostat) by using one or a combination of the following sources, provided that they meet the quality requirements laid down in Article 13:
(a) information directly provided by the respondents;
(b) administrative records and other sources, methods or innovative approaches insofar as they allow for the production of data that are comparable and compliant with the applicable specific requirements laid down by this Regulation. The methods referred to in point (b) of the first subparagraph of this paragraph may include small area estimations, intended to cover the territorial diversity, provided that they fulfil the precision requirements laid down in Annex II.
2. Member States shall provide the Commission (Eurostat) with detailed information on the sources and methods used in accordance with Article 13(5).
