The Agency shall follow developments in the legislation dealing with the transport of dangerous goods by rail within the meaning of Directive 2008/68/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and shall, together with the Commission, ensure that such developments are consistent with the legislation dealing with rail safety and interoperability, in particular the essential requirements. To that end, the Agency shall assist the Commission and may issue recommendations at the Commission's request or on its own initiative. |
