1. This Regulation shall not apply to fishing operations conducted solely for the purpose of scientific investigations which are carried out with the permission and under the authority of the Member State concerned, and of which the Commission and the Member State in whose waters the research is carried out have been informed in advance. 2. Marine organisms caught for the purposes referred to in paragraph 1 may be sold, stored, displayed or offered for sale, provided that: (a) they meet the standards laid down in Annex XII to Regulation (EC) No 850/98 and the marketing standards adopted pursuant to Article 2 of Council Regulation (EC) No 104/2000 of 17 December 1999 on the common organisation of the market in fishery and aquaculture products (), or
(b) they are sold directly for purposes other than human consumption. |
