Panasonic PV-D4752 DVD-VCR Combo. Product description tested and working good.** includes remote** and a/v cables. has a small dent on the top. Amazon.com Combining videophile picture quality with compact simplicity, Panasonic's PV-D4752 plays both DVDs and VHS tapes, and it's a whiz at decoding MP3 CDs, suiting it well to movies, television, and music. Its component-video outputs even perform progressive scanning, a feature designed for use with high-definition and HD-ready TVs. Progressive scanning displays all 480 video lines in one pass, rendering horizontal image lines sequentially rather than interlacing the even lines with the odd. The result is high vertical resolution and flicker-free, high-density images--reason enough to make the HDTV leap. The unit's S-video and composite-video outputs work fine with most older TVs. If you'll be using the interlaced output from the DVD player, one RCA composite-video connection (supplied) handles both DVD and VCR outputs. But if you plan to watch DVDs through the component-video or S-video outputs, know that the VCR signal still requires a separate composite-video connection. The PV-D4752 plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, standard DVD-Video discs, and most DVD-Rs (recordable DVDs), from which you can easily make VHS copies of wedding footage, birthdays, and other special events. Copy-protected commercial DVDs cannot be recorded. We were duly impressed with the PV-D4752's MP3 playback abilities. Each player handles discs differently, but this model read our most difficult test discs, offering fast track skips, scanning within MP3 files, and repeat functions for tracks, folders, and discs. The player does not support ID3 tags, however, and it limits the display of file and folder names to 11 characters. The two biggest drawbacks are the unit's reliance on the onscreen display (the front-panel display shows no elapsed time during DVD or VHS playback) and its habit of interrupting whichever format you're watching when loading another. For connections, you get one each composite-video, S-video, and component-video output, as well as two sets of composite-video inputs (one on the front and one at the rear) and one RF (cable-type) input and output for the VCR. An optical digital-audio output feeds a surround-sound signal to your Dolby Digital- or DTS-decoding audio-video receiver. It sports two sets of stereo RCA analog audio outputs and two sets of inputs (one each on the front and back). --Michael Mikesell Pros: Easy setup and above-average user's manual Easy setup and above-average user's manual Convenient two-in-one design Convenient two-in-one design Fast track access Fast track access Above-average read abilities for MP3 discs Above-average read abilities for MP3 discs Good MP3 disc navigation Good MP3 disc navigation Folder, disc, and track repeat function for MP3 files Cons: No front-panel display for disc or tape elapsed time Loading a tape while watching a disc (or vice versa) interrupts playback Can't search for other MP3 tracks or folders while disc is playing Folder, disc, and track repeat function for MP3 files Cons: No front-panel display for disc or tape elapsed time No front-panel display for disc or tape elapsed time Loading a tape while watching a disc (or vice versa) interrupts playback Loading a tape while watching a disc (or vice versa) interrupts playback Can't search for other MP3 tracks or folders while disc is playing Can't search for other MP3 tracks or folders while disc is playing.

Sylvania DVC865F Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Dual Deck. Product description Sylvania DVC-865F Dual Deck DVD/VCR Player Amazon.com The Sylvania DVC865F Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Dual Deck provides the perfect hybrid solution for the serious movie enthusiast. With both a high-end DVD and equally feature-rich VCR, this unit will free space in your component stack and still let you enjoy your entire film library, regardless of format. The player reads DVD Video discs, DVD -R/RW discs, Audio CDs, CD-RWs, CD-Rs and also plays MP3 files. The DVD player includes progressives scan. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The DVD player also includes a 3:2 pulldown feature that improves the image quality of film transfers. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. VCR features include a 4 head HiFi MTS-SAP driver for superior picture and audio quality. The 181 channel auto set PLL MTS_SAP frequency synthesized tuner, when combined with the 1-year/8-event programmable timer, will record your favorite programs, something your stand-alone DVD player won't do. The unit also makes finding your favorite scene a snap. Use either the index and time search, or the two-step picture search to quickly locate the frame you want. A host of output choices mean you can use whichever connection is most convenient or highest-quality. There's an RF (F-connector) in and out, for those really old TVs, and of course, standard composite A/V (RCA) jacks in both the front and rear for practically every other device. S-Video and component video output connect higher-end TVs, and digital audio output lets you send audio to most any home theater system. With a great feature set for both players, a 44-key remote control and stylish exterior, this deck lets you play the latest DVDs and still enjoy those old-school tapes you carefully collected. Whether you're looking to upgrade your system to include a DVD player, or you need to replace a worn-out VCR, this combination unit makes perfect sense--and it only takes the space of one component.

It includes easy-to-use front panel controls as well as an S-Video/composite AV input for connecting gaming consoles and video camcorders. This unit provides easy, one-touch copying of non-copy protected DVD disc material to VHS tape, and vice versa--great for archiving your old home videos. This unit also includes an HDMI digital audio/video output, which can up-convert standard DVD movie discs to near HD resolution. Where standard DVD players (even progressive scan models) provide just 480 lines of resolution, the DMR-ES25S up-converts the picture up to 720p and 1080i high-def video formats--taking full advantage of your HD television's sparkling resolution. (Note that your TV must have an HDMI connection; HDMI cable not included.) Choose from a full spectrum of recordable DVD media--write-once DVD+R and DVD-R discs or rewritable DVD-RW/+RW and DVD-RAM discs. (For temporary storage, such as your favorite weekly shows, DVD-RAM discs are a great choice as they can be rewritten more times than DVD-RW/+RW discs.) In addition to standard DVD movie and CD audio discs and its compatible recordable formats, the DMR-ES25S can play back CD-R/RW, dual layer DVD-R/+R, and VCD disc formats as well as JPEG, and MP3 digital formats. Panasonic's Time Slip function consists of two features designed to give you added flexibility and control when making DVD recordings: Chasing Playback and Simultaneous Record & Play. With Chasing Playback, you don't have to wait for an entire program to be recorded before watching it from beginning to end. This feature allows you to watch a program that's currently being recorded from any point that's already been recorded--while continuing to record the live program in progress. Simultaneous Record & Play allows you to record a program onto a disc while simultaneously watching any other program that's previously been recorded on the same disc. You can set your recorder to one of five different recording speeds, each varying in recording quality and length. EP mode yields the most recording time, LP & SP modes provide less recording time with higher quality recording, and XP mode gives you the highest quality recording. There's also the FR (Flexible Recording) mode that lets you record with the best picture quality possible for the recording time and remaining space on the disc. The Direct Navigator feature makes it easy to find a previously recorded program on a disc. A list of recording dates, times, channels and (user-entered) titles are shown on screen. With the Playlist Playback function, you can perform simple non-linear video editing using, such as rearranging the order of scenes, skipping over unwanted scenes, or copying selections Jump directly to any spot on a disc and begin playback or recording right away with the Rapid Random Access function when using DVD-RAM discs. Even if there is no sequential area of empty space available, this DVD recorder can record data on available space throughout the rest of the disc. You will also avoid searching for a blank spot to start recording, or accidentally recording over desired material. Enjoy a great picture on you flat screen LCD or plasma HDTV using the component video output, and immersive surround sound via the optical digital audio output for Dolby Digital and DTS home theater effects. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections . Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound. High Definition Formats: The most common high-def (HD) video format is 720p, which displays video at 720 vertical by 1280 horizontal pixels. The p denotes that it is progressive scan, meaning that all video lines are filled at the same time. The 1080i format displays video at 1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixels, and the i means that it is interlaced (the old-school way of presenting video where the screen scans the odd-numbered video lines first, then the even-numbered lines). The 1080p format has the same pixel resolution as 1080i, but it is a progressive scan format and thus has a constant vertical resolution of 1080 lines. Product Description PRO SCAN DVD VCR COMBO W/HDMI DIVX Amazon.com The SD-V594 puts the technological advantages of a progressive scan DVD player and the convenient recording and playback options of a video cassette recorder into one sleek machine. And because it is so accepting of other new technologies, such as USB and HDMI, it can act as a command center between your cherished video memories and your newest digital media. Full-Featured DVD Player The SD-V594 includes an integrated DVD player compatible with several disc formats: DVD Video, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD and DVD-R. Want to bring your photos out of the office and into the TV room? Simply burn your JPEG photos to a disc and the SD-V594 will provide you access to a slide show of your images with a few clicks on the player's remote control. Alternatively, you could connect a USB mass storage device to view your images. Many digital cameras will support this type of connection. HDMI Compatible High-Definition Multi-media Interface (HDMI) is an interface format that provides uncompressed digital audio and video directly to a digital television. It represents the current state of the art in high-definition video and sound because the information never has to be converted into an analog format or compressed. Another benefit of HDMI is that it puts all that information into one cable and one easy-to-use connector. An added benefit of connecting the D-R5 to your television with HDMI is that the unit can upscale commercial DVDs, which are rendered at 480p resolution, to a digitally interpolated 720p resolution, which makes for a much sharper picture. Also, the unit's built-in MPEG decoder is able to display your JPEG files at higher resolution when connected to an HDMI display. Lacking an HDMI connection, however, the D-R5 offers 14-bit digital-to-analog video conversion at 108 MHz and component video output. This player is also DivX Home Theater Certified, which means it display popular Internet video formats, such as DivX, AVI, and MPEG4. Hi-Fi VHS VCR The unit's built-in VCR has four 19-micron heads for superior playback at all speeds--SP, SLP, and EP. The SD-V594 is also equiped with S-VHS quasi-playback, which means it can play, but not record, S-VHS tapes. It features stereo recording and playback, as well as MTS and SAP audio functions. Most users will appreciate the 30-second skip button, which is designed to advanced the tape precisely 30 seconds, allowing you to bypass the commercials recorded with your favorite programming. Audio For home theater audio hookups, the unit provides Dolby Digital and dts surround sound output through optical and coaxial ports. For analog sound systems, the SD-V594 uses 24-bit conversion at 192kHz. The D-R5 also plays MP3 and WMA files stored on a compatible disc media or USB mass storage devices.

Then you're ready for Toshiba's high-end SD-V592 DVD/VCR combination deck. The SD-V592 not only sports Toshiba's premium ColorStream Pro progressive-scan video outputs (480p), but it's custom-made for hookups with HDMI-compatible high-definition televisions with selectable 720p/1080i upconverted DVD outputs via a rear-panel HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). The DVD deck plays a variety of optical content, including DVD-Video, DVD-R, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and video CD, as well as MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) music files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. A 4-head, hi-fi VCR gives you exciting stereo playback for your entire library of VHS tapes; it'll even play S-VHS tapes (at regular VHS quality). You can also copy non-Macrovision-protected DVDs to videotape--just the thing for sharing your computer-edited, DVD-based home movies with loved ones. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p and 720p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using two or three times the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The SD-V592 also performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal (Toshiba's Digital Cinema Progressive). DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown reversal digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. The DVD deck's JPEG viewer makes it easy to watch custom slide shows from digital photos burned to recordable CDs. The unit's array of home-theater-ready video connections includes composite-, S-video, and ColorStream Pro component-video outputs, with the VCR and DVD components sharing the composite-video and RF video outputs--especially convenient if you'll be using this device with a TV that only has RF or composite-video inputs. The DVD player's internal digital-to-analog audio converter (DAC) works at 24-bit, 192 kHz resolution to ensure optimum sonic quality from a range of digital program material; the video DAC operates at a high, 12-bit/54 MHz resolution. One set of left/right analog-audio outputs (DVD/VCR) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals from DVDs can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (1 each RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. In addition, readily accessible front-panel AV inputs permit easy connection for a game console or a camcorder for simple dubbing of home movies to the VHS deck. For enhanced picture quality during VHS playback, the 4-head hi-fi VCR uses a pair of 19-micron video heads, which deliver exceptional (near SP) picture quality of content recorded and played back in the extended play (EP) mode. Commercial skip lets you pass over commercials during playback. Other features include 1-year, 8-event programming, high-speed (200x) rewind and fast-forward, index skip, auto head cleaner, and auto clock set--no more flashing 12:00. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any AV source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver). HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements. What's in the Box DVD player/VCR, remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable, and a coaxial video cable.

We're talking DVD-Video, video CD, DVD-R, and video-mode DVD-RW. Then there's the specialty formats: super-high-resolution DVD-Audio and SACD (stereo and multichannel), as well as--in the opposite direction--compressed audio files (MP3 and WMA) on recordable CD. Slideshows of digital photos? Sure. Just load your JPEG digital photo CDs, Fujicolor CDs, or Kodak Picture CDs and you're off and running. For sensationally great video, the DV-578A-S features virtually twice the video processing power of previous Pioneer models with its 12-bit/108 MHz video digital-to-analog converter (DAC), as well as Pioneer's PureCinema 2:3 Progressive Scan feature, and a range of video output types, plus 7 video adjustments for maximum versatility and performance. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; reverse 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The deck is even outfitted for CPRM copy protection (Content Protection for Recordable Media). CPRM permits the recording of copy-once broadcast programs, but not copying of such recordings. CPRM recordings can only be made using DVD-RW discs in VR mode and can only be played on CPRM-compatible players such as the DV-578A-S. DVD-Audio and SACD media both offer super-high-fidelity sound. DVD-Audio discs provide high storage capacity, unique bonus materials not available on commercial CDs, and 192 kHz/24-bit multichannel and stereo sound (with audio harmonics conceivably extending all the way to 96 kHz, two full octaves beyond the highest frequencies found on standard CDs). DVD-A discs often have compressed Dolby Digital soundtracks for listening on standard DVD players, but true DVD-A decoding is required for full sonic appreciation. Depending on the disc, Sony's proprietary SACD format provides extended-bandwidth multichannel and/or stereo sound, often presented in a dual-layer format compatible with both standard CD players (at standard resolution) and SACD-equipped players like the DV-578A-S (for full-resolution playback). Most high-res audio players offer compatibility with one or the other format, DVD-Audio or SACD. This player is happy with both. As an anti-piracy measure, the player performs its own decoding of both DVD-Audio and SACD signals (not to mention standard Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround sound), passing high-resolution analog , not digital, audio to your integrated amplifier or surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver with multichannel analog-audio inputs to fully appreciate multichannel DVD-A and SACD releases. If you're not planning to use the DVD-A/SACD capability for multichannel programming, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for simpler connection with your receiver. Chasing playback lets you watch a recording in process, from the beginning. You can also watch a previously recorded program while recording a new one! For added versatility, this model includes 2 front-panel slots, one for a PC card and one for an SD card, allowing you to view, file and store digital photos to DVD-RAM disks. Imported. Total dimensions: 11-1/5Lx17Wx3-1/10H. Weight: 7-2/5 lbs. Amazon.com Panasonic's fourth-generation DMR-E60S DVD recorder sports many of the features and technology benefits people expect from digital recording and merges them with a user-friendly interface and an unexpectedly low price. In addition, you can store and view digital photos using the unit's onboard SD/PC card slot, and a DV input terminal makes it easy to transfer images from a digital camcorder directly to DVD-RAM. A playlist function grants easy editing without the need to use a PC. The DMR-E60S's joint support of DVD-RAM and DVD-R media provides the best of both worlds: DVD-R for the highest compatibility (letting you share video recordings with virtually anyone with a DVD player) and DVD-RAM (for rewritability and benefits like Time Slip, chasing playback, and simultaneous play and record). DVD-RAM offers the perfect solution for recording and re-recording favorite programs--over 100,000 times on the same disc. The feature-rich DMR-E60S offers the benefits of progressive scan (for use with high-definition and HD-ready TVs), MP3 playback, enhanced time-shifting, instant access, and on-disc video editing. When connected to home theater components, you'll enjoy playback of multiple digital entertainment formats, including DVD Video, CDs, and audio CD-R/CD-RW discs. With instant recording onto a DVD disc, there's no need to have to find blank space, as with a VHS tape. Just press record and the unit will automatically find space on the disc, much like a computer's disk drive. Panasonic's Time Slip feature lets you replay a scene recorded earlier while a program is still in progress, without disrupting the recording process. And chasing playback makes it possible to watch from the beginning a show whose recording is still in progress. It's also simple to transfer favorite VHS tape recordings to space-saving discs, and personal movie libraries and family videos can be archived, preserved, cataloged, and accessed.

HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections. Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR).
