Alessi Men's AL8004 Stainless Steel Automatic Watch with Black Leather Strap. Designed by Alessandro Mendini, this is a wrist watch with a leather strap and case in steel. The end of the 1990s marked the most recent stage of evolution at Alessi. At the end of a process of development and evolution lasting approximately thirty years, the “Dream Factory” has turned from a more or less traditional industrial company into a “research laboratory in the field of applied arts”. The millennium has witnessed extensive new developments at Alessi. Collaborations have been formed with other companies in manufacturing contexts very different from Alessi’s original dedication to small objects for the home and kitchen. The company offers its skills in design management and its vision of design as a global creative discipline to companies operating in product spheres unconnected with its original domestic field. Alessi’s aim is to give life to new objects characterised by that mix of eccentricity and style, playfulness and culture, irony and elegance which has become synonymous with the Alessi name. One of the first licensing projects run by Alessi was “Alessi Watches”, with a launch that took place with the 2002 collection. But this part of the company history goes further back, to the 1980s, when two of the most famous architects who had already designed successful products for the Crusinallo-based factory were invited to work on the wristwatch theme: Achille Castiglioni and Aldo Rossi. The latter created “Momento”, a new version of which is presently included in the catalogue, while Achille Castiglioni designed “Record”, of which the present collection also includes a chronograph version. Every year the “Alessi Watches” collection ushers new additions. Ettore Sottsass designed “Ciclo” with a large crown, a dial in bright colours, and well-defined white graphics, typical of his design approach. Andrea Branzi had fun playing with the hour numerals, placing them in new and eccentric positions on or off the dial, along the crown. Indeed, the name “Out_time” is clearly evocative of the project style. The Dutch designer Wiel Arets created “watch.it”, with a strap in steel or brown leather, a matte white face, and the hours marked as if they were tiny beads of water. Miriam Mirri designed four wristwatches for the “Alessi Watches” range. “Mariposa” – “butterfly” in Spanish – in two variants, with a white or blue dial; “Millennium”, in aluminium in grey, red and violet with a leather strap to create a new light and practical combinations. The young Italian designer also created the first two watches for the Alessi Watches Kids line, “Millennium jr.” and “Space-bimba.

Raymond Weil Men's 9577-STC-00650 Tradition Stainless Steel Case Black Leather Strap with Crocodile Pattern Watch. In 1976, m. Raymond weil, who had previously been a watch designer for another company, founded the watch house that bears his name in geneva, switzerland. The 1970s, when quartz watches shook the foundations of the mechanical watches market, is remembered as a hard time by all watch companies. It was a common belief by some consumers that there was no need for them anymore; after all, quartz watches were more accurate, did not need winding, and were infinitely cheaper to produce. These were hard times enough that it is a surprise to some that the industry survived as well as it did – it is even more surprising to learn that for raymond weil, these dark days were the hour of its birth. As one of the newer swiss watch houses, raymond weil has built up a prestigious reputation in a short period of time. Quality speaks for itself, and raymond weil’s watches were so fine, word quickly spread. The number of dealerships then increased with the founder becoming highly sought after and much in demand. Raymond weil produced watches characterized by elegance and simplicity. His watches bring together a subtle blend of trend and tradition. Their exquisite line, beautiful materials and meticulous finishing appeal to people of all tastes. Both chic and practical, raymond weil watches are suitable for all occasions. Drawing on swiss watch making expertise, raymond weil focuses on creativity and quality in order to offer its clients an impressive diversity of models to match each individual and unique personality. Attention to detail is never compromised with raymond weil. It is one of the last independent brands in the luxury swiss watch industry. Since its founding by its namesake in 1976, Raymond Weil draws inspiration from major musical works to create elegant and cutting-edge timepieces. Named after the Wagner opera, the signature Parsifal collection balances symmetry and harmony with a powerful, valiant outlook befitting of the opera's hero. The Don Giovanni collection, named after Mozart's comedic opera, blends daring design with advanced technical prowess, and the Don Giovanni Cosi Grande mechanical chronograph is hand assembled by Raymond Weil's finest watchmakers. Over the years, Raymond Weil has introduced a number of other series that helped the company become an enigmatic leader of the Swiss watch industry, including the Othello, with its discreet design that emphasizes strength of character and uncompromising beauty, and the sophisticated, color-stained-crystal Traviata. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Raymond Weil watches are manufactured entirely in the Swiss watchmaking universe. The company's signature motto--Independence is a state of mind--is a reminder of its desire to conceive timepieces that are different, elegant and modern, while at the same time displaying all the rigor of watchmaking excellence. The art of Movado is the art of design. Since its founding in 1881 by 19-year old entrepreneur Achille Ditesheim in the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Movado has achieved a legacy of design innovation, earning more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for artistry and innovation in watch design and time technology. Movado, meaning always in motion in the international language of Esperanto, is the hallmark of some of the most famous timepieces ever created: the 1912 Polyplan, its revolutionary, patented movement constructed on three planes to fit a case curved to follow the wrist…the WWI Soldier’s Watch with its elegant, protective grill…the 1927 Ermeto, a capsule-shaped pocket watch wound by the sliding motion of its case…the innovative 1950’s Kingmatic series of rotor-driven automatics…the Movado Artist’s Series by luminaries of the fine art world…and the Movado Museum® Watch with its legendary dial. Defined by a single dot at 12 representing the sun at high noon, the Museum Watch dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. It was designed by Bauhaus-influenced artist Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. When Horwitt’s dial was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it was the first watch dial ever awarded this distinction. The name Museum Watch derives from this recognition. Today, Movado watches are in prominent museums worldwide, and this legendary dial distinguishes an entire collection of singular timepieces. The Movado Boutiques extend the Movado brand philosophy of design innovation beyond watches to a range of products for modern living. Exclusive offerings include the proprietary and patented 114-facet Movado Diamond™ jewelry collection, Movado’s own modern 18K gold, diamond, sterling silver and gemstone jewelry, signature pens and personal accessories, Movado clocks and fine Swiss watches. Summary of Features • Movement: Manual/Self-Winding Automatic Movement Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more. Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors). • Complications: Three Hand Movement with Day and Date• Dial: Hydraulically Pressed Guilloche Soleil Decoration on Central Dial Surrounded by Matte Finish• Hands: Sword-style Hands with Luminous Fill• Markers: Embossed Exploding Style Arabic Numerals Diagrams of Features With dedication to the heritage of watchmaking, Stührling Original timepieces appeal to the most discriminating taste at reasonable prices. Through meticulous labor and rigorous testing, the vision of the Stührling Original timepiece is brought to life inside our workshops, where “Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.” Assembling a Stührling Original mechanical automatic movement comprises no less than 30 checkpoints, spread throughout the assembly process. The movement must meet more than 7 criteria, including a mean variation in rate which is the highest standard in its class in the industry. Stührling Original remains committed to its mission of preserving high manufacturing standards on all of their fine timepieces. Each and every model conveys an inimitable story with extraordinary style.
