Alessi Men's AL8004 Stainless Steel Automatic Watch with Black Leather Strap. Designed by Alessandro Mendini, this is a wrist watch with a leather strap and case in steel. The end of the 1990s marked the most recent stage of evolution at Alessi. At the end of a process of development and evolution lasting approximately thirty years, the “Dream Factory” has turned from a more or less traditional industrial company into a “research laboratory in the field of applied arts”. The millennium has witnessed extensive new developments at Alessi. Collaborations have been formed with other companies in manufacturing contexts very different from Alessi’s original dedication to small objects for the home and kitchen. The company offers its skills in design management and its vision of design as a global creative discipline to companies operating in product spheres unconnected with its original domestic field. Alessi’s aim is to give life to new objects characterised by that mix of eccentricity and style, playfulness and culture, irony and elegance which has become synonymous with the Alessi name. One of the first licensing projects run by Alessi was “Alessi Watches”, with a launch that took place with the 2002 collection. But this part of the company history goes further back, to the 1980s, when two of the most famous architects who had already designed successful products for the Crusinallo-based factory were invited to work on the wristwatch theme: Achille Castiglioni and Aldo Rossi. The latter created “Momento”, a new version of which is presently included in the catalogue, while Achille Castiglioni designed “Record”, of which the present collection also includes a chronograph version. Every year the “Alessi Watches” collection ushers new additions. Ettore Sottsass designed “Ciclo” with a large crown, a dial in bright colours, and well-defined white graphics, typical of his design approach. Andrea Branzi had fun playing with the hour numerals, placing them in new and eccentric positions on or off the dial, along the crown. Indeed, the name “Out_time” is clearly evocative of the project style. The Dutch designer Wiel Arets created “watch.it”, with a strap in steel or brown leather, a matte white face, and the hours marked as if they were tiny beads of water. Miriam Mirri designed four wristwatches for the “Alessi Watches” range. “Mariposa” – “butterfly” in Spanish – in two variants, with a white or blue dial; “Millennium”, in aluminium in grey, red and violet with a leather strap to create a new light and practical combinations. The young Italian designer also created the first two watches for the Alessi Watches Kids line, “Millennium jr.” and “Space-bimba.

Torgoen Swiss Men's T29101 T29 Retro-Grade Aviation Watch. Torgoen Swiss T29 Retro-grade Aviation Watch T29101 A classic retro-grade, black gator print leather strap gives the Torgoen Swiss Men's 316L stainless steel 3-Hand Analog Strap Watch a classic attitude. A straightforward silver dial displays large, luminescent Arabic-numeral hour indicators from the 1 thru 12 o'clock positions. This beauty has a large sub sweep second hand dial and big date window at the 6 O'clock position, and retro-grade day indicator at the 12 O'clock position. Large, luminescent hands, stick minute markers round out this aviation beauty. This timepiece is water resistant to 330 feet (100 m). Swiss quartz retro-grade calendar movement - Screw down stainless steel back - Solid high grade stainless steel case - Italian stitched leather strap in alligator print - Mineral crystal. Non radioactive long lasting luminescence dial - Dimensions: Case diameter 44.3mm - Case thickness 13.5mm - Crystal diameter 40mm Simplicity, Boldness and Functionality Torgoen was founded by an enthusiastic private pilot, Benzi Rosenski. Rosenski, also a veteran of the watch manufacturing industry, combined these two passions to create Torgoen – Professional Pilot Watches. Rosenski envisioned a line of timepieces for pilots that are functional, affordable, well designed and durable. In 1998 the first Torgoen Swiss timepieces rolled off the production line. The name Torgoen is derived from Thor, the god of thunder in Nordic mythology, and Goen which is a derivative of “go”. The name symbolizes the boldness, functionality and simplicity of design (Thor) in time keeping devices (Goen). These principles guide the Torgoen team in the creation and updating of the line. Although the design of all Torgoen watches has functionalities useful for pilots, it is also perfect for ordinary people who appreciate tangible quality and no-nonsense, yet sophisticated design. The dials have numerals, markers and indexes inspired by cockpit instruments like altimeters and speed gauges. Cockpit instruments have been a subject of ergonomic studies that go back to World War II. This is part of the functionality and boldness that guides Torgoen. E6B Flight Computer – Useful also in the supermarket In many of its models, Torgoen uses an E6B Flight Computer based on the original design by the US army during World War II. The name was simply the Catalog part number of the device. It allows the pilot to easily solve problems of speed, distance and time. By knowing two of these variables, one can deduct the third with ease. This is based on a regular slide rule which was used by some of us that attended high school before the introduction of pocket calculators. It enables the user to perform any multiplication and division calculations. It is especially good while performing conversions of units and even exchange rate calculations. The watches come with a booklet in three languages with clear instructions of how to use the E6B and examples of how the E6B will help solve calculation problems. GMT (Zulu Time) – Keeping track of home-time for travelers Torgoen incorporated in many of its models another feature that is commonly used by pilots and favored by watch enthusiasts - a second time zone displayed in a 24 hour format. Communications between the cockpit and air traffic controllers always use GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) as a common standard. It avoids confusion by pilots arriving at an airport from different time zones. Every time zone in the globe has a designated letter. GMT was designated with the letter Z and pilots call it Zulu time since Zulu is the phonetic alphabet for Z. It is also useful for travelers crossing different time zones who wish to keep their home-time handy and easily displayed on their watches. Today the Torgoen brand includes 12 series in its line-up with over 61 different versions. Considering the components and materials used, we feel that this brand is one of the best values in the market today. Torgoen Academy As part of the contribution and commitment to the aviation industry, Torgoen sponsors the Torgoen Academy for flight safety. The academy’s curriculum delivers specialized flight training to both private and commercial pilots that will increase aviation safety by teaching aviators essential recovery and survival skills not normally offered in either primary or advanced flight training. The Torgoen Academy’s training makes pilots safer by teaching them to deal with departures from normal flight, upsets due to turbulence and mechanical failures. Following a structured syllabus, pilots develop the ability to keep a cool head while applying techniques learned in the school’s aerobatic training aircraft to resolve the situation at hand. We literally turn pilot’s upside-down in real airplanes in order to give them the confidence to fix the problem without the panic.

The company subscribes to the principle that beautifully designed, high-quality objects can be created at reasonable prices. Skagen watches represent the technical excellence, refined design and operational simplicity that have created the unique reputation of Danish design. The fishing village of Skagen--the Skaw--lies where the northern-most tip of the Danish peninsula known as Jutland bends East and breaks the surging waters of the Kattegat and Skagerak seas. The spectacular natural beauty of the area is compellingly beautiful, and its white sandy beaches have been visited by artists for centuries. The Skagen brand takes its name from the fishing village of Skagen, Denmark. In keeping with a European design aesthetic, Skagen watches for men and women are sleek, elegant, and modest timepieces boasting quiet precision. Skagen’s signature watch style includes a smooth mesh band and simple dial with subtle indices.
