Crown Cactus Mix 25 Seeds - Rebutia - Showy Flowers. CACTUS: Cactus, the common name for a family of desert plants. The plural is cacti or cactuses. Most species bear sharp, needlelike spines, which protect the plants from foraging desert animals. Cacti are famed for their ability to resist drought, which they owe to the fact that moisture from inside the plant evaporates very slowly through the plant's skin. Cacti grow in hundreds of different shapes. The fibrous, juicy stems may be globular, cylindrical, branched, trailing and vinelike, ribbed, grooved, or knob-bearing. Only two species have true leaves. The rest of the 2,000 species are leafless. *This genus contains around 60 small cacti, and is a member of the family Cactaceae. Native to the mountains of Bolivia and neighboring parts of Argentina. The Rebutia are small ball or barrel-shaped flowering cacti, with small spines, with tubercles arranged in spirals. Forming clusters, the slender stems of Rebutia species have a dense covering of spines, and can be ribbed or warty in appearance. The flowers, sometimes larger than the plant, are produced around the lower part of the stems, and are often prolific. The funnel shaped flowers, which come in shades of red to yellow and white, are produced in spring and summer. The vibrant blooms open in daylight and close when the sun goes down. The flowers will last four or five days. Rebutia are among the best indoor bloomers.Hardiness zones: 9-11, (-5°C/25°F, 4°C/40°F) in winter. Rebutia need bright light, with gritty, very free-draining, slightly acidic cactus soil. They also require an excellent drainage, good air circulation and cool to cold night temperatures. They prefer to be drenched and let dry. Ideal for pot culture, production of both stems and flowers will be encouraged if the plants are repotted regularly, particularly when they re young.

Tropica - Lebanon Cedar (Cedar of Lebanon) (Cedrus libani) - 20 Seeds - Bonsai. TROPICA - Lebanon cedar (Cedar of Lebanon) (Cedrus libani) - 20 Seeds Worth knowing: This evergreen, almost exterminated tree is the national coat of arms of Lebanon and adorns the Lebanese flag. The plant is able to reach an age of almost 900 years. Remarkable is the tabular crown on older trees. The cedar wood is not affected by insects and is scenting very pleasantly over decades. Origin: Origin is the Lebanon, however, today, larger accumulations of trees can only be found in Turkey. Propagation: Seeds can be started indoors throughout the year. Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature for 1 to 2 days. Put them in cultivation soil or loose, sandy soil afterwards. Germination time varies quite differently between 3 to 12 weeks. Place / Light: The plant requires a lot of light, sun and warmth. Permeable soil, rich in nutrients will also contribute to a healthy growth. Young trees are slim, grow upright and develop dark green needles, up to 4 cm in length. Care: Water a lot from May until September, best is every 2 to 3 days. During the other months, it will suffice to keep the soil slightly moist. You should also provide the cedar with liquid bonsai fertilizer every 3 weeks or organic long time fertilizer (e.g. Bio-Gold) every 6 weeks from May until September. Winter period: Pluck newly grown shoots constantly during the growing period. Thicker shoots and branches should be cut no sooner than in winter. That way, the loss of resin, developing on the cutting marks, happens during the non-growing period and the bonsai does not have to mobilize additional energy. Bonsai Suitability:.
