One of the most recognizable photos from Lou Gehrigs day. As you could imagine even though it was Lou's day the larger than life figure of Babe Ruth was well represented to honor his fallen teammate. Why this photo is called “High Quality” and “Archival”: The offered photo was captured by taking a high resolution image of an original type I vintage photo. The resulting image was cleaned up using state of the art software. The photo was then produced using an Epson P800 professional printer which uses three different shades of black to provide for deeper blacks and more saturated colors. Finally as opposed to using standard photographic paper used by photo labs that are commonly seen on eBay we used a higher quality Epson Presentation Matte Paper. A stamp has been applied to the back of each photo indicating the fact that the photo is HIGH RESOLUTION ARCHIVAL GRADE. Babe Ruth was an outfielder who played from 1914-1935. Ruth was simply stated the game’s first and greatest true slugger as well as the most celebrated athlete of his time. He began his career as a Hall of Fame Quality pitcher winning 89 games and setting a World Series record for consecutive scoreless innings. With his prodigious power a move to the outfield was inevitable. He would finish his career with 714 home runs, a 342 batting average and 2,212 runs batted in. He was the first to his 30, 40, 50 and 60 home runs in a season and led Boston to 3 World Championships and the Yankees to 4. Lou Gehrig was a first baseman who played from 1923-1939. Baseball's original iron man played in 2,130 consecutive games. Arguably one of the best run producers the game ever saw. Scored over 100 runs and drove in over 100 runs in 13 consecutive seasons. 1931 he set American League single season RBI record with 184. 1934 represented his most prolific season as he won the Triple Crown with a .363 average, 49 home runs and 165 runs batted in. The consummate team player he supported his team batting .361 in route to 6.
