Jackson & Perkins 'Peace' Hybrid Tea Rose - Bareroot. Perhaps the finest Hybrid Tea ever introduced, 'Peace' has a history as fascinating as its appearance! In 1935, French rose breeder M. Meilland discovered rose seedling #3-35-40, a beautiful pastel-hued hybrid tea. He was still developing it when France was invaded by Germany, but he managed to send it to the U.S. on the last plane to leave Paris before France fell. American growers took over its development, and on the day that Berlin fell to the Allies, the rose was named 'Peace'. It won AARS honors in 1946, the day that the peace treaty ending World War II was signed with Japan, and each United Nations member received a 'Peace' Rose at their first meeting. Each petal on the heavy, substantive 5- to 6-inch double blooms is a soft yellow edged with pink that deepens and spreads with maturity. From attractive ovoid buds, the petals unfold slowly around a high-pointed center. They are borne on heavy, strong, straight stems between 18 and 24 inches long, making them fantastic for vases. Flower production is unbelievably lavish, and the blooms last a remarkably long time, both on the plant and when cut. The plant reaches 4 to 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide, covering itself in healthy, glossy, dark green leaves. Truly the one Rose to plant! It should be pruned in the spring, with the removal of old canes and dead wood. Cut back canes that cross each other. Gardeners in warmer climates will want to cut the remaining canes by one-third, while those in colder climates will probably need to trim it a bit more. Budded (grafted).

Silverine Moon Hens & Chicks - Sempervivum - Very Hardy - 4 Pot -Moon Charms. Sempervivum are succulent, rosette forming plants belonging to the Crassulaceae family. They are commonly known as Hens & Chicks, Houseleeks or Hen and Chickens. The main attraction of these plants is their colourful rosettes of leaves. The rosettes are most striking in the spring and summer but even in the winter when growth stops, many varieties remain attractively coloured. It is the endless range of different leaf shapes, colours and textures that make this group so interesting to enthusiasts. The 'Red Cobweb' Hens and Chicks is a lovely delicate sempervivum, with rosettes covered with fine, white threads which crisscross between the leaves' tips like a cobweb. Each rosette of pointy, blue-green leaves grows about 1 inch wide. The color can vary from season to season, with unusual rose-red flowers produced on leafy stalks in midsummer. Plant grows no more than 4 inches tall, and 8 inches wide. Hardy Zones 4-9. Sunlight brings out bright colors in Sempervivums. When planted in full shade or grown indoors away from a sunny window, many varieties tend to fade to a plain green color. However, in hotter weather during the summer and in the southern United States, afternoon shade can actually help plant colors last longer. The soil’s fertility, pH, moisture and structure, as well as the temperature and age of the plant (some take up to three years for full color) also effect coloration.

TROPICA - Chinese Juniper (Juniperus chinensis) - 30 Seeds - Bonsai. TROPICA - Chinese Juniper (Juniperus chinensis) - 30 Seeds Worth knowing: The Chinese Juniper is an evergreen conifer that grows in rocky mountains and is extremely robust. Since it is able to survive long periods of dryness, as well as long periods of frost without any problem, it is very popular with bonsai beginners. The rough bark is of beautiful red-brown colour and the needles are glossy green. Since the trunk and the branches are quite flexible, the little tree is well suited for bonsai design and there are some specimen that are already almost 800 years old. Origin: Origin is Asia. There, it mostly grows in Japan and China. Propagation: This species is a cold germination plant requiring frost to process the anti-germination substances in the seeds. Place the seeds in a small bowl filled with sand and put it in a freezer for one week. Press the seeds 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil or sandy soil afterwards, keep evenly moist and move the cultivation container in a cool position. 3-10 weeks will pass until germination. Place / Light: The Chinese Juniper tolerates full sun and should only spend the summer in half-shaded places. Care: Water the Chinese Juniper often during its growing period, for it is growing constantly. Correspondingly, it will grow slower during periods of dryness. The tree even tolerates calcareous or hard tap water, respectively. Winter period: If newly grown shoots do develop evenly, its shoot tips can be plucked quite easily. Apart from that, shoots can be pruned on a regular basis during the growing period. Bonsai Suitability:.
