Some Things Are More Important At burton + BURTON, we are always looking for ways to provide more meaningful and sustainably sourced product offerings. What better way to celebrate life's special moments than giving a gift that gives back? In 2018, we introduced the Weaving Hope project, which provides schools and feeding programs for children in Rwanda through the sale of handmade baskets crafted by a women's collective in the village of Gitarama. In addition to the Weaving Hope collection of baskets and accessories, we are making a conscious effort to design our products with a more sustainable and earth-friendly intent. Our goal is to use up-cycled and/or recycled materials, as we take pride in being a brand with purpose. | ![]() B00Q5GBKLG Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.310 Category: Home Rating: 5 Votes: 1 Find similar productsBlowing Sands Glass Studio Small Glass Sea Star in Blue. Blowing Sands Glass Studio is an active part of the Seattle glass arts community. David Smith, owner/lead glass blower, was introduced to the art of glass blowing while studying for a degree in Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. After graduating in 1983, he returned to Seattle and started working full-time as a glass blower. Four years later, he bought a one-way ticket to China, traveled across Asia and the Soviet Union, and spent 5 years living and working with artists in Finland, Germany, France and Ireland. He returned to Seattle and established his own studio/hot-shop in the Ballard neighborhood. His work is an extension of his technical background in glass science and his love of the traditions and history of glass blowing throughout the world. Attention is taken in each step: Gathering clear glass from the furnace, melting on layers of colored glass, and sculpting the sea star. |

John and Maxine Renaker started Hagen-Renaker in their garage in Culver City in the latter part of 1945. John Renaker set up the first kiln by running a garden hose from the family's gas stove. Maxine Renaker was the first designer and salesperson. After successfully selling their first pieces, they found they could not produce them. John Renaker's Mom, Moss Renaker, worked for a pottery in Monrovia called Walker Potteries. Her boss, Joe Walker, agreed to teach John about the pottery business. Maxine's Dad, Ole Hagen, agreed to build the young couple their first factory. Ole who was a carpenter by trade, went to Oregon to get a load of lumber at wholesale cost, and he and his brother, Arne worked every weekend for months to build a combination factory and apartment. In gratitude, John and Maxine named their new company Hagen-Renaker. On Easter Sunday, 1946, the family and their fledgling company moved to Monrovia. The company first produced elaborately decorated plates and butter pats and shadow boxes. They were selling well, but there were difficulties with them related to firing and shipping. John Renaker noticed a small duck that Maxine had on her work bench. She was a Camp Fire Girl leader, and she had designed it for the kids. He saw potential in it and put it on the bottom of the company's order sheet. When he saw how it sold, he decided to change direction and produce small figurines. Very soon they had transformed Helen Perrin from a decorator into a designer, and she was joined by others. John and Maxine were able to recognize artistic excellence and based their business on these talented designers. This tradition and continues it today. Maureen Love Calvert and Helen Perrin Farnlund are still providing a majority of the new items to the line and have been joined by Bob McGuinness and Kathleen Ellis. Table runner with stunning nativity scene will add a holiday touch to your table. Made in the USA. Look for Manual's extensive line of home decor, tapestries, wall hangings, women's fashion accessories and more. Although Thomas Lemuel Oates started Manual Woodworkers & Weavers in 1932, the story goes back further. The roots of the company can be found in Oates' entrepreneurial spirit. He and his brother used to farm the mountain areas of Bat Cave in western North Carolina. They would also help their mother find materials for her crafts. The sons began to make wooden whistles, buckets and bird-houses. They would sell their wares along with her crafts to the people from Charlotte that came through in their horse-drawn buggies on the way to the mountains. Later, Thomas worked at the Ashville Postcard Company. When the Depression hit, he lost his job, but it inspired him to go into business and sell crafts, like cornhusk dolls and woven pieces, that were produced by the local women. He had learned about the wholesale business while working at Ashville. He built a waterwheel to generate electricity at a mill, began making product and opened shop. Over the years, he expanded the company. His son, Lemuel Oates, who would next manage the company, says he worked in the business from a young age. He explains the products were made from cotton scraps left over from making socks. Half-inch circles would be looped together to form a variety of products. Lemuel Oates went to college and then settled in Richmond. In December 1973, he returned to Bat Cave and took over the company. In 2007 his son Travis and his daughter, Molly Oates Sherrill, took over the business. |

In October 1985, Norma and Mike Delano opened The Country House in Snow Hill, Maryland. Mike was a former agricultural fertilizer salesman, and Norma was a second grade teacher. Norma quit teaching in 1972 to be a Mom to Christy and Jenny. Norma painted and sewed crafts more as the girls got older. Mike and Norma did craft shows each year. The idea of opening a store to show their handmade products as well as decorating items not available in the area came together when they opened The Country House in Snow Hill. Because of a great response at the Snow Hill store, they moved to a larger place in Salisbury, MD. After another year, they doubled that space to 5,000 sq. feet. Then after 3 years, they bought the current location, which is a 48,000 sq. foot building. It was originally built in the 1930's to be a shirt factory. It needed major repair. The family, including grandparents, plus several carpenter friends did a lot of work to prepare it to be a store. In the early 2000's, The Country House Collection had an opportunity to develop some fabric curtains and linens, to be made in India. Christy and Jenny worked along with Norma and Mike to build this collection, which now includes a broad selection of metal pieces and other household goods. For many years, The Country House produced retail catalogs 5 times a year. Now, their full line can be seen on their website. Customers come from all over the country to visit our retail store. They say it is Worth the Trip! No matter what your style, there is a huge selection of unique merchandise. The Country House is not just for the lovers of country décor. So, family and many long time employees make The Country House work. A major loss came with the loss of Christy to cancer in Sept. 2015. We are thankful that Billy, Jenny's husband joined the business full-time in 2016. Billy and Jenny have two kids. Their kids are growing up to be future helpers. We look forward to having them continue the legacy, working toge. | ![]() B008CP2WE2 Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.132 Category: Home Rating: 5 Votes: 1 Find similar productsEvening Star, by Mike Machat - 1049 Signed and Numbered Prints. To put it simply, at Santa Barbara Design Studio, we make what we love and we love what we make. The one and only…Lolita. It all started with a girls' night out. One that contained more than the usual laughter and fun. Browsing for the first time through a martini menu, Lolita was inspired by the recipes. After being served a Cosmopolitan, her creative imagination made her see the glass differently, the way she thought it should be, a bit more dressed up, perhaps with a pattern, with flair and with a fabulous recipe on the bottom. Lolita took hold of that original idea, hand painted martini glasses, and then took the world by storm in 2004 to become the hottest gift brand in the U.S. Now, after many successful products, designs and collections, she continues to stand behind what she has always believed...that life should be lived to its fullest and every moment should be celebrated. What is your moment? Commemorate it with a wine, margarita or martini glass, a shooter, rocks glass or pilsner. For whichever of life's big moments, there is a Lolita style to fit it. | ![]() B006LLQH7W Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.098 Category: Home Rating: 4.6 Votes: 4 Find similar productsFlower Soft Katy Sue Designs Starter Kit, Floral Card Making.
