Daphnia are small aquatic crustaceans that reach about 5mm in size, and are an excellent food source for aquatic pets, especially picky eaters! They are an excellent live food for freshwater tanks and will not pollute your tank’s water. The following lists the primary processes of how we maintain our Daphnia culture: ●Maintenance: ○Water Changes performed at least every other day replacing at least 50% of the water. ○Siphoning the bottom of tank or container that the Daphnia are living in as the food you feed them will collect down there. ○We use aged water rather than aquarium water (due to the possibility of bacteria in our aquariums that could spread to customers--if you don’t plan on selling, you can certainly use your own aquarium water). ■Note: do not use plain freshwater or freshwater that has been treated with Prime as this can kill the culture. ●Feeding: ○We feed them Brewer’s Yeast once a day. It’s time to feed them when the water is clear. If the water isn’t clearing in a couple of days at most, you are likely overfeeding them. ○We use a brine shrimp net to filter out the bigger particles of yeast when feeding (hold the net over the culture and pour the yeast mixture into it). ○Combine the yeast in a small container with aged water or aquarium water. Mix well. ■We don’t actually use a ratio of yeast to water, but will feed until we can no longer see the bottom of the Daphnia container. ■Start small and add more yeast as needed to meet the above specification. ●Additional Tips: ○Avoid having only one culture. It’s safer to maintain at least 2 in the event that the one crashes. It’s very common that cultures crash. ○More volume of water is better for the survival of the culture (we keep ours in 20+ gallon tanks and containers). ○Not necessary, but helpful: ■Lightly aerated water, in our experience, has promoted Daphnia reproduction. | ![]() B075BNSXLJ Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.651 Category: Pet Rating: 3.2 Votes: 3 Find similar productsGills and Fins Grindal Worm Live Starter Culture. Josh's Frogs Fruit Fly Medias are the best producing Fruit Fly Medias on the market, and we have been constantly perfecting them since 2004. We approach Fruit Fly culturing from a scientific standpoint, and produce over 1200 32 oz Fruit Fly cultures a week. Last year, we produced over 24 TONS of fruit fly media! Both of our media formulas are specifically designed with each Fruit Fly in mind. There is a substantial size difference between melanogaster and hydei Fruit Flies; because of this, their dietary needs are different. We will always recommend to use the proper media when culturing fruit flies yourself. When culturing with the wrong media, it is more important than ever to closely monitor the temperature and humidity of the cultures. Josh's Frogs is a leading source of quality excelsior, also known as wood wool. Excelsior is ideal for use in fruit fly cultures as additional surface area for fruit flies, allowing them additional places to climb, mate, and lay eggs. | ![]() B01BKXTFDI Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.505 Category: Pet Rating: 5 Votes: 1 Find similar productsAquatic Arts 1 B-Grade Zebra Crayfish/Freshwater Lobster (Cherax peknyi) - 3-4 inch Young Adult. Included is one Zebra Crayfish (Cherax peknyi), also known as the Tiger Crayfish. This listing is for a B-Grade crayfish, which means that the crayfish will be missing more than one limb. This is a very common occurrence among crayfish, and the limbs will regenerate over time as the crayfish molts. This will be a young adult that is 3 to 4 inches long, and will grow up to 6 to 8 inches long as an adult. This is one of the most unique-looking crayfish we have to offer due to its diverse and lustrous coloration. These crayfish usually have cerulean blue, periwinkle, sage green, and sunny orange colors on its body, with a darker emerald green covering its tail. These crayfish are truly a sight to be seen! This crayfish grows large and needs at least a 30 gallon tank for a single crayfish, or a 55 gallon for 2 to 3 crayfish. It feeds on almost anything, from pellet food to blood worms or live food. Though crayfish are NOT friendly to other aquarium inhabitants, they can often live with fast-moving fish and animals that are not bottom-dwellers. They are fairly slow and only a sick fish would be able to be caught by the crayfish. We keep them with guppies and fire red cherry shrimp, and have never seen a death, but we cannot guarantee that dwarf shrimp will be completely safe if kept with a large crayfish. Also, they may eat live plants, though some are worse about destroying plants than others. RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: - pH level range: 6.5 - 7.5 - Temperature range: 68° to 85° F - KH: 6 - 15 dKH - Recommended Aquatic Arts tank mates: Fast-moving fish (such as guppies, danios, rasboras, etc.). Cichlids can be aggressive towards crayfish and should not be kept in the same tank. - Additional notes: Crayfish prefer foods like invertebrate pellets or blanched vegetables, but will also eat fish food and wafers. |

The Yellow Polyps may grow rapidly and has a bright yellow gold body color which makes it a gorgeous and brilliant addition to any reef tank. These are non-venomous but are semi aggressive in nature. The Yellow Polyps show symbiotic relation with zooxanthellae, which is a type of algae. This alga hides and seeks shelter in the Yellow Polyps coral and undergoes photosynthesis. Due to photosynthesis this alga provides oxygen and nutrients to the coral. Therefore, it needs an intermediate water flow and lighting condition in the aquarium. The Yellow Polyps are relatively easy to maintain and grows easily if the proper water parameters are met. The Yellow Polyps might get consumed by Aiptasia eating animals like Peppermint Shrimp due to similarity between it. The Yellow Polyps are mainly collected from the regions of Indonesia. The Yellow Polyps are soft corals and also known as yellow polyps. Each polyp is individual and does not connect in any way. They have long tentacles and also have thin long stalks as compared to other polyps. The Yellow Polyps can be easily propagated and are very easy to grow without the need of any special requirement. It does well within the temperature range of at least 72 to 84 degrees. The Yellow Polyps are a great and terrific addition to any reef tank, and it propagates in the tank quite easily. | ![]() B000YIYPTU Availability: Currently unavailable Score: 4.310 Category: Pet Rating: 3.1 Votes: 25 Find similar productsSinking Malaysian Driftwood- 8PC Assortment(3EA Small,3EA Medium,2EA Large). Though most driftwood will remain submerged underwater, some driftwood remains slightly buoyant until it is fully saturated and waterlogged. Soak the driftwood in a large bucket as long as possible making sure the entire piece is completely underwater. A minimum period of 1 to 2 weeks is recommended to allow total saturation. Soaking also allows excess tannins that can darken and discolor the water, to leach out. The discoloration caused by the tannins will not harm your aquarium inhabitants but it will lower the pH slightly over time. Some hobbyists take advantage of this feature and utilize the tannins to achieve soft water conditions preferred by many tropical fish. Bleeding Heart Tetras Monitor the soaking driftwood regularly to see if the water needs to be changed. As the water darkens, empty all of the water and gently rinse the driftwood. Fill the bucket with clean dechlorinated or RO water and continue soaking the driftwood. As you repeat this process, you will notice that the water will be less tea-stained. When you no longer notice any significant discoloration for several days in a row, the driftwood is ready for placement. Boiling Driftwood: Boiling driftwood has several benefits. Just like steeping a tea bag in hot water, boiling driftwood in a large stockpot encourages more tannins to leech out faster, thereby shortening the curing process. More importantly, boiling sterilizes the driftwood. |
